Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (EMs) might be called "the hand of "God" because they offer the Body of Christ and His Most Precious Blood to individuals at Eucharistic liturgies.
Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist (as they are properly called) must have a deep love and reverence not only for the Body of Christ in the Sacred Elements but also for the body of Christ that stands before them in every man, woman, and child.
Individuals must be Confirmed, sixteen years or older, and be trained and commissioned.
Additional ministers are always needed at all Masses.
